friday's post

Dinner 6.45PM

  • thats a very nice chicken curry, made using the rogan josh base that was used for the last curry which I really liked last time
  • instead of lamb, the meat was chicken so my mum would eat it
  • and instead of saffron rice, theres some sticky spicey rice instead
  • and theres some naan bread, still on that better tasting indian brand stuff and not the tescos stuff but I think we've got more of the tescos stuff in now

thursday's post

Dinner 6.40PM
  • this was a very nice dinner, for my a-level results day (too tired to go out in the evening, badman nuh sleep before) we ended up having the proper celebratory meal on saturday
  • thats a nice big pork chop with green peppers and some very sweet lovely onions on top of it
  • some green beans
  • just a little bit of broccoli
  • and some of that saffron rice with some spring onion, i took way too long eating my chop though so the rice was just a little bit colder than I would like by the time I got to it

Monday 24 August 2009

wednesday's post

Dinner 7.05PM

  • thats some lovely meatloaf which I had with gravy you can see there, no before and after though
  • and some green beans from the garden
  • and some potato gratin made with potatoes from the garden, i'm not sure how to compare this with potato gratin made with our usual potatoes but its certainly lighter, maybe the flavour gets a little lost in the cooking

tuesday's post

on tuesday I went out for a pub quiz so I went to urban pie for dinner and had a lamb and rosemary pie for half price (after 5.00PM) and it was lovely

would have put more lamb and rosemary in it my self but for £2.00 its lovely

monday's post

Dinner 7.10PM

  • this is a meal I really liked and so I ate really really slowly, making sure I got bits of sausage with bits of the
  • baked potato
  • I tended to eat the snow peas on their own
  • and I ate the broccoli mainly on its own, but tried to get a bit in with the sausage too

sunday's post

Dinner 7.15PM

  • thats some perfect roast chicken
  • with a bit of skin there
  • and before and after for the gravy
  • the potatoes there came from the garden and they were very nice
  • got some green beans which came from the garden, they taste more substantial from the garden which is a lot nicer but it takes getting used to I think compared to the supermarket thing
  • got some carrots too
  • and some yorkshire puddings

Sunday 23 August 2009

saturday's post

Dinner 6.50PM

  • this was a really special meal because its trying some new things, the main curry is based on a rogan josh mix from pataks, it was neck of lamb and it was absolutely perfect with onion and ginger paste in it
  • and the rice was lovely too, it was made yellow with saffron, i'm not sure if that gave it a slightly fuller taste, but it did taste slightly more crony which I like, theres also some crunchy fried bits of onions in there too and some little bits of spring onions
  • got mint raita there too, which I put on top of the curry on my plate
  • and a different kind of naan bread from usual, its an actual indian brand one instead of the normal tescos one and it takes some getting used to because its not instantly bready but its got a much better and more natural texture
  • theres some potato salad there too, but thats mainly for my mum's meal (she doesn't like lamb)
  • and some tomato salad with red onions which was nice
  • and some lettuce from the garden

friday's post

Dinner 6.40PM

  • got some lasagna there which I always can't get enough of
  • and some garlic bread made of cut up mini baguettes which was nice because all the butter soaked in differently than it normally would and tasted wonderful with the lasagna
  • and some of my mum's mixed lettuce from the garden with next to no grit on it
  • and some tomato salad, I think the main herb on it was mint from the garden, lemon thyme as well maybe

thursday's post

Dinner 6.50PM

  • got some pizza without cheese there, I meant to ask for some cheese on it but I forgot
  • its got some little prawns on it
  • some bacon
  • mushrooms
  • and onions, its still lovely without the cheese because the tomato taste shines through but i'm starting to think i'm missing something
  • some carrot salad there which I always like
  • and some of my mum's mixed lettuce from the garden, a bit gritty but its nice having different kinds of salad

wednesday's post

Dinner 6.50PM

  • I could eat this one right now, its about half 2 in the morning right now, thats a bit of chicken in a lovely sweet and kind of sticky sauce, I think it was made with sweet chili and soy sauce
  • and some potatoes from the garden, I tried to mix them in mouthfuls with the chicken to try and stop eating things one by one and I think I really enjoyed doing it with this kind of meal
  • also got some lovely green beans all cut up there, can't remember the name for them cut up like that, tried to save some of the sauce for them because I hate the majority of them at the end of the meal

tuesday's post

Dinner 7.00PM

  • got a stir fry there which I always like
  • with prawn crackers because I can use the prawn crackers as a spoon
  • in the stir fry theres chicken
  • snow peas
  • noodles
  • and rice
  • the sauce on this is a black bean one, theres some red pepper stuff and onions in there too I think

monday's post

Dinner 6.55PM

  • this was a lovely meal, theres some ribs
  • and a baked potato
  • with some coleslaw, I tried doing that thing where you have the coleslaw with the potato but I really can't see the attraction with it at all, it tasted like you'd got potato dirt in my coleslaw and cold sour cabbage in my potato
  • some lettuce in a the cup
  • and some salad which was tomato, onion and cucumber
  • there some butter there too but I never really tend to have it

sunday's post

Dinner 8.05PM

  • got lovely roast beef there
  • theres a before and after for the gravy and I also put a lot of horseradish on the meat but you don't get to see that
  • some green beans as well, i'm not sure if these came from the garden but I don't think so
  • and some carrots which did come from the garden, these are such a treat to have so small, they're kind of sweet but also they taste a lot more like a turnip than a carrot with some bites
  • some roast potatoes, they're from the garden
  • and some yorkshire puddings

saturday's post

Dinner 6.45PM

  • got two burgers without top buns there, beef and pork mixed mince and a lovely piece of bacon on top
  • can't really see it but there in the top left bit of the picture is sweet chili sauce and theres bic hamburger relish on the right - they both went on top of the burgers in very large quantities
  • got some beetroot salad there, I don't usually go for it but it was lovely and sweet, not that usual very strong flavour
  • got some carrot salad as well which is always nice
  • some radishes which my mum grew
  • some mixed lettuce, I think this is the first of her grown lettuce on the blog, its very nice but its hard to wash off all the grit but the taste is worth it
  • some chips as well

friday's post

Dinner 6.50PM

  • thats chili con carne, I like this meal but i'm still not sure of it
  • because I don't really go for the kidney beans, I think i'd love it if you could have about half as many kidney beans
  • the mince is a mix of pork and beef
  • and theres rice there too
  • and the cucumber there has some white wine vinegar on it
  • got some garlic bread there as well, nice and thick - made with a gregg's bloomer loaf I think

thursday's post

removing my waking up time until i've caught up

Dinner 7.10PM

  • got a lovely spaghetti carbonara thing here, this is one of my favourite meals at the moment I think
  • thats spaghetti
  • some chicken
  • little bits of bacon
  • and some snow peas there too

  • also there is some potatoes from the garden which went very well because they weren't crunchy like the dumplings
  • and theres some carrots from the garden
  • and some beans but i'm not sure at all where they came from, tescos or the green grocers I think

tuesday's post

I think I got up around 10.45AM but i'm not too sure

Dinner 6.45PM

  • those are chicken kebabas with bits of red pepper with some sweet chili sauce - I ended up putting more sweet chili sauce on, then having too much and then defrosting some bread to mop it up with
  • and there some lettuce
  • and a salad which was cucumbers which I think my mum's friend grew, tomatoes, radishes that my mum grew and she also grew the herbs but i've completely forgotten exactly what they were, I think one of them was parsley
  • that cheese on the left isn't mine

monday's post

I got up around about 10.15AM I think

Dinner 6.55PM

  • green beans (these might have been from the garden, i'm not sure though)
  • some carrots from the garden
  • some lovely little potatoes from the garden
  • and some yorkshire puddings
  • also got a before and after on the gravy there

Sunday 9 August 2009

thursday's post

I think I got up at about 10.55AM

Dinner 7.20PM
  • this was a brilliant meal, first thats the standard pataks chicken curry jazzed up with some other spices, got some mango chutney that went on top of it too
  • garlic naan bread
  • bits of chicken
  • with big potato wedge/chip things
  • and red peppers
  • with a salad that was some nice tomatoes and cucumber
  • if you're wondering what that mess in the top left is, its my attempt at making brownies but not having the right chocolate, instead of dark chocolate and dark brown sugar, I had light brown sugar and milk chocolate, it all stuck and didn't cook properly it was lovely in its own way - like a gooey milk chocolately then sometimes crispy chocolate soil

monday's post

I probably got up at about 11.00AM but i'm not sure at all

Dinner 7.40PM

  • thats pasta bake that was lovely and crispy on top
  • the vegetables were all grown by my mum or a friend of hers, I think the cucumber is grown by her friend but the tomato might be from the green grocers, i'm not too sure
  • the tomatoes, radishes, lettuce and herbs are all home grown - the carrots are probably the most interesting thing to eat home grown, they're a real treat whereas you might just not like different kind of lettuce

sunday's post

I think I got up at about 10.45AM

Dinner 10.40PM

  • thats lovely roast lamb, had it after coming back from the pub so it'd been keeping warm in the oven, so the fat tasted even nicer than usual for some reason
  • got some yorkshire puddings there
  • carrots
  • potatoes
  • and lettuce
  • I had some very thick and lovely heated up gravy and then some mint sauce, usually theres a before and after for the gravy but I made a decision completely unrelated to the alcohol I had consumed on this sunday, to not take that picture

friday's post

  • and cucumber

Dinner 0.00AM

  • thats some pasta bake which my mum left for us for when we got back

wednesday's post

I got up at around 10.50AM

Dinner 7.10PM

  • got some dirty rice there, but no egg in it because of my mother's vegan friend eating with us, I put a fair bit of light soy on mine

Dinner 7.20PM

  • thats some lovely big sausages
  • some heinz baked beans, always have heinz at home but I had some different ones at a cafe recently and I can't say I could notice a great amount of difference, they might have been a bit duller and not sugary enough compared to heinz
  • also got bubble and squeak there which I always like having and eating slowly
  • this kind of meal is one of the few meals that I miss putting salt on

Dinner 6.55PM

  • thats a lovely pork chop
  • with some green peppers on top of it
  • some cucumber
  • some lettuce in that cup
  • and some tomato and red onion salad
  • the potato salad there was actually really nice, I usually don't go for it but those are my mum's potatoes from the garden, and I think you can ignore the mayonnaise bit and really taste the herbs and potatoes
  • the radishes were grown by her, I don't really go for radishes but they're nice with other stuff mixed in
  • also got some bread from the deli there too
